Piano Emergency

A Christmas emergency , with Christmas Day looming losing the use of the piano was not an option.
Pretty straight forward repair , a broken dowel needed to be replaced , not a size that can be bought so I had to make a replacement out of beech on the lathe.

Victorian Kitchen Cupboard

                          Victorian Kitchen Cupboard

I picked up this Victorian pine cupboard earlier this year.  The opportunity to make a kitchen for a small
Victorian cottage had come up and I thought this would make a great starting point, especially as I'd also come across a reclaimed butlers sink that I thought would look great set into it.
Despite having spent the last 50 years as a workbench in a friend's shed the cupboard was in excellent condition, 1 1/4 inch thick doors and drawer fronts, dovetail joints and heavy brass handles and hinges.

Cupboard with vice still attached and reclaimed butlers sink.

Back stripped out and hole cut for appliance

Small butlers sink fitted in place of middle drawer

So that was stage one started, next step was to create a right hand door that would open sufficiently to allow access to the appliance that would be fitted in the space behind. This would require the removal of the drawer front and fixing it to the top of the door, creating a dummy drawer effect when closed.
